Several of us went to a church service this morning – well, part of two services. Since it was the first Sunday of the month, the schedule had changed without us knowing it, so we heard the last part of the sermon in the first service and then stayed to hear the music during the opening of the next service. The services take place in a gigantic tent that hold about 600-700 people I would guess. Miriam tells us that huge churches like that are pretty much the norm in Nairobi.
The rest of the day was pretty low-key. We had lunch, then hit the road back to Kangundo where we're spending the next few nights in the Eagles Hotel. Hmmm... I wonder how many eagles are really around here.... Anyway, we spent the rest of the day planning for the next few days of activities. Lots more pictures and stories coming.
In the meantime, if you'd like to learn some of the stories of the people we had lunch with yesterday, Maggie did a masterful job of summing up some of the heartbreak that has been part of their lives – https://magenglund.blogspot.com/ (the "Just Another Lunch?" post).
And here's a picture of me with Baby Nancy (her story is in Maggie's blog). I was the only lucky one who got to hold her for a couple of minutes. Then of course she wanted to be back with mom!
